For university drama

Society chaos, scripted.

New committee every September. New cast every term. Fringe transfer next August. Limelight is the bit of your society that doesn't graduate - so the next committee inherits a working system instead of three Google Docs and a shared Dropbox.

What university drama societies use it for.

No. 01

Freshers' fair to opening night

New cast sign up at the fair, get onboarded straight into the first show, and the directorial brief is on their phone before they've left the marquee.

No. 02

Edinburgh transfers

Take the production on tour to the Fringe without rebuilding the schedule. Same show, new venue, new dates, same cast. Tech run goes out as usual.

No. 03

Committee handover

This year's president hands over a populated society with active shows, member history and admin access already in place. No "where's the Google Drive password" emails.

Why it works for uni drama.

Every September we start from scratch with a new committee and lose half the institutional memory.

Society accounts persist across committees.

The society owns the account, not any one student. New president takes over admin in a click; old president drops down to alumnus. Three years of show history stays put.

Half our cast are also writing essays and miss every other rehearsal.

Push reminders before every call.

Pre-rehearsal notifications go to the phone in the library tote. The schedule lives in the app, so cast can plan dissertation hours around it instead of finding out at 7pm.

We share venues with three other societies and the booking sheet is a battleground.

Per-show schedules.

Each production owns its own calendar; cast see only their show. Venue sheet exports cleanly for the Students' Union to slot into the wider booking system.

Committee turns over every twelve months and everyone reinvents the wheel.

Role-based access, clean handovers.

President, treasurer, social sec, director - each role gets the right access. Handover means changing who holds the role, not migrating everything to a fresh account.

★★★★★
I inherited the presidency with absolutely no notes and a Trello board from 2022. After we moved everything to Limelight, this year's handover was a fifteen-minute conversation. That alone is worth it.
